Saturday, November 14 at 7:00pm – 10:00pm
200 N. Boulevard Richmond, Virginia USA, 23220

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is sponsoring a public exhibit of light based art and performances this November 13 &14. Philadelphia based artist Elizabeth Hamilton is creating a large outdoor installation titled Sleepless Field which will honor the breadth of grief, particularly how many are impacted as well as the common and unique experiences of every bereaved person.

She is creating a field of luminescent flowers, each flower representing a beloved person who has died. You are invited to submit a photograph, description or drawing of a flower to represent your loved one. Elizabeth will as closely as possible recreate your submission to be part of the installation of flowers. You will be given a number that will match your flower so that you can find your flower in the field. Sleepless Field will be installed in the large expanse of ground behind the museum near the memorial chapel on the museum grounds.

If you want a PDF of the template for submitting the drawing or photo or description to the artist and you would like to contribute a flower design dedicated to someone who has died, please email sleeplessfield@gmail.com for a template. (Designs need to be received by October 31st.) http://www.elizabethmhamilton.com/sleepless-field.html
